Atlas was built from more than 20 years of leading through growth, transformation, and change.
Louis Engel is an enterprise growth and transformation executive whose career has expanded from technology leadership into product, operations, organizational performance, and board advisory.

Strategic leadership across
operations, technology, and product.Â
His career has evolved alongside the organizations he has helped build.

Louis began his career in enterprise technology and progressively expanded his leadership across product and operations, giving him a cross-functional perspective on how organizations grow and where complexity can slow them down.

At BeaconLBS, Louis helped build and scale a healthcare technology platform into a nationally deployed business exceeding $90M in revenue. He ultimately served as functional COO, CIO, and CPO, leading 92+ professionals across product, technology, and operations.

During his leadership, EBITDA margins expanded over a three-year period from 9.6% to 19.7% to 29.9%. He also led technology and operational diligence ahead of the company’s acquisition by Carelon, followed by post-acquisition integration leadership.Â

Louis began his career in enterprise technology and progressively expanded his leadership across product and operations, giving him a cross-functional perspective on how organizations grow and where complexity can slow them down.
Â
Louis joined LabCorp to modernize its clinical trials platform and was quickly recognized for a distinctive ability to harmonize business and technology. That recognition led to responsibility for five separate LabCorp business units — clinical trials, molecular and genomic testing, paternity and identity, occupational testing, and pathology — each run as its own P&L, with an independent executive, product, and development team, sharing only common infrastructure services. Revenue across that portfolio grew cumulatively from $70M to $900M.

That track record of running P&L-owning businesses led to his appointment to LabCorp's Senior Science Management team, where he helped align technology strategy with business priorities and supported LabCorp's M&A team in evaluating acquisition targets, sharpening the same instincts in operating discipline and deal evaluation he'd soon need to build a business of his own.

That progression, five distinct, P&L-owning businesses inside LabCorp, plus a seat evaluating how outside businesses fit LabCorp's portfolio, is what led LabCorp's Executive Vice Presidents to handpick Louis to build the industry's first laboratory benefits management company. Starting from a one-page charter, Louis built and scaled BeaconLBS into a nationally deployed healthcare technology platform exceeding $90M in revenue, the sixth business of his career. He ultimately served as functional COO, CIO, and CPO, leading 92+ professionals across product, technology, and operations, and drove EBITDA margin expansion over a three-year period from 9.6% to 19.7% to 29.9%.

In 2023, that sixth business was acquired by Carelon, a subsidiary of Elevance Health, and Louis carried it through the deal from both sides. He led the technology and operational due diligence, producing no material findings and a close in under six months, then led the integration itself to completion in under six months, against a typical nine to twelve month timeline, with zero customer disruption. He stayed on to direct 100+ cross-functional professionals architecting a $250M addressable claims-spend cost optimization platform for Carelon and Elevance Health.

From there, Louis carried that same operating discipline to GeneDx, where he built the company's Office of Program Management operating model from the ground up, establishing portfolio-level prioritization and predictive governance across Revenue Cycle Management, Market Access, and Government Affairs. He translated that structure into a decision-ready analytics foundation, giving executive leadership the visibility to weigh competing initiatives against strategic priorities rather than departmental momentum, extending the same integrated operating discipline he'd built at BeaconLBS to a new organization.

Across his career, Louis hasn't led one company for thirteen years; he's led six businesses, each judged on its own bottom line, one of which he carried all the way through a clean, fast acquisition and integration, and a model of integrated operating discipline he has since carried into other organizations.

Atlas leverages Louis's COO, CIO, and CPO experience to align operations, technology, and product, the functions that most directly shape growth, performance, and enterprise value.

Complex business problems rarely belong to a single function.

An operating decision can affect technology. A technology decision can affect product. A product decision can affect customers, cost, risk, and growth.

Atlas brings these perspectives together so leadership can make decisions with a broader understanding of their impact and keep the organization moving in one direction.

This integrated approach is also designed to strengthen the client’s operating model so the improvements can continue beyond the engagement.
The Compass Arrow
The compass arrow represents Atlas’s role in understanding where an organization is today, clarifying where it needs to go, and establishing a practical path forward.

Operations (COO)
Technology (CIO)
The operations perspective focuses on aligning people, processes, priorities, and performance so strategy translates into disciplined execution across the organization.
The technology perspective considers how systems, infrastructure, data, scalability, and risk support the organization’s priorities and enable its next stage of growth.
Product (CPO)
The product perspective connects customer needs and market opportunity with product strategy, investment decisions, and execution to create sustainable business value.
The Compass Prism represents how Atlas approaches an organization.
The compass establishes direction. Its three facets bring operations, technology, and product together, helping leadership see the broader impact of decisions and move the organization forward in alignment.
